“Anora” follows Anora Mikheeva (Mikey Madison), a sex worker as she falls into a whirlwind romance with a wealthy Russian oligarch heir, Ivan Zakharov (Mark Eydelshteyn).
His family finds out and rushes to New York to annul the marriage, calling it invalid because of Anora’s career.
Anora claims they’re in love, but Ivan doesn’t defend her, brushing her off.
Ivan runs away, leaving Anora trapped with the bodyguards of the family who force her to help them find Ivan.
The ending is gut wrenching and bittersweet, perfectly tied together by director Sean Baker. This film was Baker’s highest-grossing film, using incredible coloring and shots to add nuance to the movie.
