This movie literally sparked my adoration for film and everything about it. There’s not a single thing I dislike about this movie: it’s incredible.
Nina Sayers (Natalie Portman) is a ballerina auditioning for her company’s production of Swan Lake.
Nina tries to prove that she is worthy and slowly loses her mind. The film plays with the line between reality and Nina’s hallucination, leaving the ending open and the viewer to dispute what actually happened.
Portman’s performance is fantastic; she channels Nina’s naivety and obsession perfectly, yet portrays the hallucinations as an entirely different person. I discovered and began loving Portman after watching the Star Wars prequels and have been a fan of her acting ever since.
