What are some of SMS’s hot takes?

What are some of SMS’s hot takes?
Is a hotdog a sandwich?
Is a hotdog a sandwich?

US English teacher Jessica Love:  No, it’s a hotdog.

Senior Mary-Kate Kalodimos: No.

Senior Rosamond Mullinax: No. It’s sausage and bread.

Junior Natalie Smith: No, it’s a different construction than a sandwich. All of the items have to be horizontal to be a sandwich, but on a hotdog, it’s kind of vertical.

Junior Natalee Owens: I think it’s a taco.

Junior Mary Margaret Cooper: Yes. I mean, it’s a piece of meat between two pieces of bread. It’s a sandwich.

Freshman Addison Cannon: Yes, it is a sandwich…you can hold it the other way too.

Are socks and sandals OK?
Are socks and sandals OK?

Love: Yes.

Mullinax: If they have the toe things where the sock goes between, then no, but Birkenstocks with fluffy socks, I can get behind.

Blaney Rowe: I love it. Socks with sandals are fine, but you can’t wear them with the toe thing.

Owens: I love it.

Smith: I’m fine with socks and Birkenstocks, but true sandals and socks, you’re out. If it has the toe, you cannot be having socks on.

Cooper: Ew gross no.

Spotify or Apple Music?
Spotify or Apple Music?

Love:  Spotify. Apple Music what? No.

Kalodimos: Spotify.

Cooper: Spotify all the way. Just got premium!

Opinions on skinny jeans?
Opinions on skinny jeans?

Kalodimos: I think they’re cute. If you want to wear them, wear them. If you don’t, don’t.

Rowe: On the right person, they can look OK.

Cooper: With the right outfit they can still be worn, but for the most part, no.

Are designer handbags worth the money?
Are designer handbags worth the money?

Mullinax: I think some are, some aren’t, but all of them are overpriced.

Dobbins: It depends what brand it is.

Cannon: It depends on the price. If it’s like $300, OK, but if it’s over like $500… Marc Jacobs, I feel like is worth it but not like Gucci.

Freshman Martha Mitchell: The thing is you don’t want to wear it every day… if you wear it so much, and it’s so expensive…I’d rather have a bunch of inexpensive bags than just one main one.

Is “The Office” overrated?
Is “The Office” overrated?

Kalodimos: No. The first season is a little rough, but once you get through it, it’s good.

Cannon: Yes and no. I feel like it’s overplayed, so yes I feel like it’s overrated. I feel like some people just like watch it too much.

Mitchell: For me, it’s one of those background shows you just listen to.

What is the best streaming service?
What is the best streaming service?

Senior Virginia Skipworth: Honestly, they’re all flopping now… they were created because they were cheaper than cable. Why do I have to have six different streaming services now? That is so expensive.

Cannon: Netflix.. Because you pay for it, and then it’s all free. If you have Amazon Prime, you still pay for things.

Dobbins: Either Netflix or Paramount Plus.

Random Hot Takes
Random Hot Takes

Love: Driving in silence is better than driving with music. Driving in silence is the optimal way of driving because loud noises… too much of that distracts me. Also my thoughts are loud enough. My days are so loud, so when I’m in my car, I want quiet.

Mullinax: Golden Goose shoes in my opinion look like overpriced bowling shoes, but if you like them, you do you. And side parts should always be illegal.

Rowe: Ranch is disgusting… I’ve tried to like ranch, and I do not like it.

Smith: We don’t need a new water bottle every year. Every single year there’s a new trending water bottle. Stanley, Hydroflask, this year the Owala. You don’t need to keep overconsuming and buying a new water bottle. All you need is the camelback one from middle school.

Senior Sydney Shanker: A chicken apple sausage with cottage cheese and mustard is the best snack in the world.
